Village of Merrick Park

Coral Gables, FL | mixed-use/retail/office
1/7

A Mediterranean-inspired design and a centrally located public garden integrate retail, office, housing and parking structures.

Site Plan

The Village of Merrick Park, a new mixed-use development in Coral Gables, Florida, combines lush, outdoor landscaping with retail, housing, and offices. ELS, collaborating with the Rouse Company, created retail pavilions that shape and define a central green lined with palm trees. A broad diversity of experiences—shopping, living, and working—creates an urban atmosphere with activity occurring around the clock. The project’s Mediterranean aesthetic, popular in Florida in the 1920’s, is in harmony with Coral Gables’ design guidelines. The development opens itself up to the city by maintaining the historic road system, with public streets continuing through the project. Fountains and shade trees provide desirable outdoor eating and resting areas. Smaller landscaped courtyards, each with a different character, provide opportunities to stroll or people-watch. Distinctive nighttime lighting creates a special environment for evening gatherings and late-night events.
