UC Berkeley Hellman Tennis Complex

Berkeley, CA | sports/recreation | community/education
1/2

Built in 1983, the Hellman Tennis Complex featured only limited-view concrete-slab seating. ELS’ renovation created an overall visual coherence to the complex while improving the experience for athletes and fans. The project was awarded a certificate of recognition for its excellence in green building performance by the UC Berkeley Office of Sustainability.

Site Plan

ELS modified the concrete slab to allow for fixed seating at the east end of the facility. A new team lounge and separate locker rooms, restrooms, and showers for men’s and women’s teams were also added, providing much more space for the athletes. New elevated seating for 200 provides a total of 700 permanent seats.
