A Sustainability-Focused Award for our Veterans Memorial Senior Center

by: French Clements | June 3, 2021

We can now announce that our Veterans Memorial Senior Center received an All-Electric Commercial Leadership award from Peninsula Clean Energy and New Buildings Institute. Their new awards program highlights all-electric building innovations across San Mateo County. For this ultra-sustainable project, we worked closely with representatives from the City of Redwood City and with Integral Group, the project’s MEP Engineer.

Currently in design for a neighborhood site and slated for completion next year, this richly programmed senior/community center will create as much energy as it consumes, earning the designation Zero Net Energy.

This May, its project manager, Susan Vutz, was a panelist at the Sustainable Facilities Forum, exploring strategies for the reduction or elimination of carbon in projects like this one. Fellow panelists included a representative of Peninsula Clean Energy, a community-controlled, non-profit, joint powers agency that is San Mateo County’s official electricity provider.

We’re honored to be among the first honorees of the All-Electric awards. Thank you to Peninsula Clean Energy and New Buildings Institute!
