Working for the City of Sunnyvale, ELS led a series of public stakeholder workshops to guide residents to a new vision for their downtown. Located in the burgeoning heart of Silicon Valley, this formerly semi-rural suburb faced significant development pressure but the community was uncertain about the potential for change. Through the ELS planning effort, consensus was reached on focusing development to create a traditional downtown. The unique identity of the town was preserved while adding the height, density, and intensity that many residents originally feared. Major mixed-use portions of the downtown have been completed following the ELS plan.
