Constructed in 1904 by renowned architect Albert Pissis, Congregation Sherith Israel’s future was threatened after the passing of the San Francisco Unreinforced Masonry Ordinance. Our team developed an seismic strengthening plan that, using innovative techniques, was a cost-effective yet entirely invisible. In addition to the seismic strengthening, ELS restored the Colusa sandstone façade and the interior of the sanctuary to its original glory.
