In 1968, Cañada College built a gymnasium, with a pool planned as part of the design. Yet the pool was never built. Fifty-three years later, the gym has been replaced by our new Kinesiology and Wellness Building, which offers two pools and plenty more. We wanted to share this recent article in the San Francisco Chronicle that looks at the building’s programming and potential.
Our design makes the complex available for community-wide use as part of a revenue-generating hybrid operational model that will allow the facility to serve the public alongside Cañada’s students, staff, and faculty. For this design-build effort, we partnered with Blach Construction and worked closely with leaders from the San Mateo County Community College District.
