Summerlin, NV | retail/mixed use | urban design/planning
A return to the traditional street grid in the Nevada desert, Downtown Summerlin is a refreshing alternative to the Vegas Strip.
Working in close collaboration with the Howard Hughes Corporation, the Rouse Company, and General Growth Properties, ELS created a master plan to guide new development for Summerlin Centre, the downtown core for the 22,500-acre community of Summerlin, Nevada. Envisioned as an alternative to the Vegas Strip, the plan creates a traditional downtown setting that integrates a network of streets, landscaped boulevards, and public open spaces to enhance land value, create address, and provide gathering spaces for residents and visitors. ELS worked with the Howard Hughes Corporation to complete the project, which is LEED Silver-certified. The development includes department stores, shops, restaurants, a cinema, and a Class A office building.
