ELS designed a new 7,100-seat performance venue for the first phase of L.A. LIVE, the new $2.5 billion entertainment district in downtown Los Angeles planned by AEG on a 27-acre site adjacent to its downtown STAPLES Center. With an arena-sized stage of over 14,000 square feet, offering the intimacy of theater with no seat further than 220 feet from the stage, the NOKIA Theatre is designed for flexibility, hosting a range of events from concerts and theatrical performances to televised award shows, such as the American Music Awards and the Emmy Awards.
