Fort Collins Urban Design Plan
ELS is preparing a transit oriented plan for the redevelopment of a three mile commercial corridor and an aging shopping mall for the City of Fort Collins, Colorado. The planning effort is inspired, in part, by the construction of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) that will connect Colorado State University and the traditional downtown of Fort Collins to the commercial corridor and mall.
Frequently listed among the best places to live in the United States, Fort Collins is uniquely situated at the foot of the Rocky Mountains and features a university, a thriving historic downtown, and diverse employment and housing opportunities.ELS’ planned redevelopment of the aging mall and strip center-dominated corridor will lead to the creation of a new mixed-use Midtown district that is transit and pedestrian friendly.
The completed Midtown plan will connect disperse neighborhoods, revitalize retail activity, add significantly to in-town housing, and reinforce the strong identity of Fort Collins.
