Jamie Rusin, Sean Slater, and Ryan Call Named Winners of Apgar Awards
Jamie Rusin, Sean Slater, and Ryan Call have been chosen to receive the ULI Apgar Urban Land Award for their article “New Suburbanism: Reinventing the Inner-Ring Suburbs,” published in the May/June 2013 issue of Urban Land. It is one of two articles being recognized through the Apgar Award in 2014.
The award recipients have been announced via a press release on April 7, 2014, and ULI CEO Patrick Phillips announced the award during the closing general session of the Spring Meeting in Vancouver on April 11, 2014. Sean Slater attended the Spring Meeting, accepted the award for the team, and had the honor of meeting Mr. Apgar.
The ULI Apgar Urban Land Award was created by longtime ULI member and current ULI governor Mahlon “Sandy” Apgar in order to highlight and recognize the high quality of writing in Urban Land magazine. A $500 honorarium is presented to the winning authors. Articles are judged on the criteria of relevance to current land use and development issues; strength of the authors’ analyses; perceptiveness of the authors’ reasoning; clarity of presentation; and overall contribution to the advancement of ULI’s mission and current priorities.
The article was also listed as ULI’s third most popular article for 2013. Congratulations to the authors!
